As you all should well know by now, the entire Donkey Kong Country trilogy was just removed from the Wii’s Virtual Console. It’s also being removed from Europe this Thursday. I contacted a rep at Nintendo on Friday and this is what he had to say…

Hello Devin,

Thanks for letting us know how much you enjoy the Donkey Kong Country games. I’m glad to hear that you have enjoyed our games and systems throughout the years. I know this isn’t what you were hoping to hear, but we do not have any information about why these classic games were removed.

However, I’ll be happy to forward your comments to the appropriate people so that your feedback will be heard. While I can’t guarantee that these games will get added back in the future, we take all feedback into consideration.

For more details about the Virtual Console, including an updated list of available software titles, check out the following web page:

So basically info we already knew… which is nothing. Hopefully we’ll get an explanation in the future or, even better, the games will be reinstated.
