Early Banjo-Kazooie: Fruit Instead of Notes

Banjo-Kazooie designer, Gregg Mayles, tweeted some more details about how Banjo was originally intended:

So instead of notes the game would feature fruit and the fruit was going to play a big role in Banjo. According to Gregg the game would have you collect fruit as well as visit the related fruit’s house that would be placed in the game worlds. The fruit collected in the levels would play a part in recovering the missing pieces of the Jigsaw. We can see there would be Orange, Grape, Lemon, Cherry and Strawberry fruit to collect. This is some very neat information for Banjo fans!

I’m guessing these were replaced with Jinjos, and the house concept was moved to Jinjo Village in Banjo-Tooie.
